Im Bereich zeitgenössischer Kunst wurden besonders im letzten Jahrzehnt Formen der Kollaboration erprobt, die Kollektivität als Motor wie auch als Begründung ihrer eigenen ästhetischen Praxis betrachten. Der anhängige kulturpolitische Diskurs, wonach ästhetische Praktiken immer auch sozialen Bedingungen unterliegen, die die gemeinsame künstlerische Erarbeitung erst ermöglichen und daher in den Blick genommen werden müssen, scheint umgekehrt davon auszugehen, dass soziale Gemeinschaften damit immer auch ästhetisch produktiv sind. Dabei ist jedoch die Frage offen, inwieweit soziale Praktiken überhaupt mit ästhetischen kompatibel sind und nicht fälschlicherweise gleichgesetzt werden. Bietet das Spiel der Gemeinschaft automatisch auch produktive Bedingungen für den künstlerischen Prozess? Bei diesem Schwerpunkt steht die gemeinsame performative Lektüre und Debatte philosophischer, anthropologischer, kunsttheoretischer und soziologischer Texte zum Thema Gemeinschaft im Vordergrund.
Community on Test-Run
Particularly in the recent decade, some ways of collaboration have been rehearsed which conceived of collectivity as both motor of and grounds for one’s own aesthetic practice. The cultural-political discourse involved claims that aesthetic practices are subject to socio-dynamic conditions which first and foremost enable artistic collaboration and which therefore have to be taken into account. Reciprocally, the same discourse seems to assume that social communities carry aesthetic potential. Yet, the question is in which way social practices are compatible with aesthetic ones, let alone if they are not equated on false terms. Does the idea of ‚community’ hold strong conditions for the artistic process at all? This coaching project focusses on reading and debating philosophical, anthropological, and sociological texts on community and embeds the reading in the practical building process on the construction site of A Future Archeology.
